Posted: 2022-07-13 20:13

CPR masks are used during CPR to provide oxygen and generate blood flow in the heart and lungs in emergency situations. The mask is used to ensure that infectious diseases, bacteria, blood and other bodily fluids are not transferred from the resuscitator to the patient and vice versaThere are many different types of masks on the market today, providing rescuers and CPR trained and certified personnel with a variety of safe and effective options when CPR must be used.

These are the main types:

1. CPR Face Mask

CPR masks are usually included in first aid kits.

CPR pocket masks are also known as pocket masks. They are used to safely administer rescue breaths to people in respiratory distress or cardiac arrest. Unused masks are stored in a bag or envelope. These masks are kept in a first aid kit and many people keep them in their purse or handbag. CPR masks have a one-way filter valve to ensure safety. As the breathing person breathes into the patient's mouth, the one-way filter valve prevents any mucus, blood, vomit and then back into the mouth of the resuscitator.

2. The airbag valve mask requires two hands to operate.

The mask has a built-in oxygen inhalation tube. This oxygen tube allows oxygen to be extracted from the atmosphere and delivered to the patient. The use of a built-in oxygen inhalation tube is very helpful as it relieves some of the stress and strain on the person performing rescue breathing during CPR. CPR procedures require physical work in stressful situations, which can affect the effectiveness of the rescue

3. There is another type of CPR mask which is the balloon valve mask.

This type of CPR mask requires two hands to operate. One hand seals the mask over the mouth while the other hand squeezes air from the bag into the patient's mouth.

CPR masks are a common type of mask used in CPR training courses. These masks are very useful low cost and effective barriers to practising CPR techniques. It is necessary to use some type of shield during training as multiple students will be sharing and practising resuscitation on a mannequin, increasing the risk of the spread of bacteria and infectious diseases.
